I tried the led lights that I wrote about here. The results were mixed.
LEDs are particular about postive/negative poles. It seems that automotive “1156″ bulb style fixtures on my boat are wired incorrectly for the LED bulbs. Bummer – strike 1. The good news is that this is fairly easily fixed, just requries a bit of time. That fix will have to wait for awhile.
The SMD festoon LED bulbs put out a BUNCH of light and work great! Obviously, the festoon bulb can be turned 180 degrees to get the polarity right.
Surprisingly, the “10 LED” festoon bulbs put out blue light and not white. The blue light was really cool…. for about a minute. Maybe I’ll be able to use them at Christmas or halloween or something but not for every day use. Back to ebay….
