Abby Normal??

August 16, 2017

Life is anything but normal right now. Or, at least what I had to come to think of as “normal”….  Come to think of it, I have no normal… Hmmm…

My two roommates – Woody and Buzz – are ATTENTION HOGS!!  I now remember why I was considering a mature cat. 🙂

However; they are incredibly cute and humorous.  Their boundless energy is amazing and watching them battle makes me laugh.  If they are awake, they are almost certainly chasing or chewing on each other. Or… eating or using the litter box…  I suppose that saves on shoes and whatever else kittens like to chew on.  They have a treat coming in the mail today – a BIG cat tree condo play area thing.  Come to think of it, maybe it isn’t a “treat” – more like a tool to try and preserve myself and Missy from their sharp little claws and teeth!

I would like to figure out a way to harness all their energy.  A friend suggest that I put them on a wheel connected to an electrical generator – something like a clothes dryer operating in reverse (creating power instead of consuming it).  I haven’t worked out the details yet but turning all that Kitten Chow into some sort of usable power would sure be great!  The soft pitter-patter of their little feet as they chase each other back and forth sure is cute!

Here is a photo of them helping me with bathroom shower construction.  These types of efforts have slowed significantly.  I have to look down with each step to make sure I’m not squishing them (haven’t yet) and, of course, they like to get into whatever I am working with – since it is likely moving.  Of this photo, my friend Jan said that they were simply helping to hold that board down. 🙂

I’m also dog, cat, and house-sitting for some friends. They are adults (the cat and dog) so are very easy but they like their luvin too!!  So, I sit and watch my kittens bound all of the coach and then go in the house to sit and relax with the “grown-ups” who seem to prefer just sitting and letting me pet them – something the kittens aren’t into, for more than about ten seconds – unless they are sleeping! 🙂

Speaking of sleeping…

Of course, since I’m staying in one place for a few weeks, I am trying to accomplish a lot of ‘construction’ tasks on Missy.

A new clothes washer/dryer combo was dropped here on the driveway this week!  However; it would not fit thru the front door. 🙁  So, I have to arrange for a lift and a crew to toss it thru a window. Nonetheless; it sure is sharp looking!  Before it gets installed, I am going to lay down some inexpensive vinyl flooring in the closet where it will take up residence.  Nothing fancy but better than OSB/plywood.  I’ve complained in the past about all my trips to the home improvement store… this time, it is my fault (like it wasn’t before).  I found the Vinyl flooring, had them cut me off a chunk, and then proceeded to set it down somewhere in the store and forget to pick it up.  So, I get to go back and repeat – maybe I’ll get lucky and find it sitting in the remnants bin.  In the meantime, I’m leaving the back window fully open at night hoping the wash machine installation elves will show up some night and install it for me.

The shower is coming together slowly. VERY slowly.  The walls of the bus are not straight so I’m now on plan C for installing the wall.  Those of you doing construction in a house that was built square – be thankful!!  All this custom fitting is a nuisance – and a time drain.  I have the floor and shower tile in hand, a bunch of mortar, an electric floor heat system, glass shower enclosure, faucet/shower head, and a whole bunch of miscellaneous stuff ready to be installed.  I need to get busy just to free up some space!

Somehow I missed that you had gotten two roommates! That is great news. They look like they are going to be a big help!
