It was a good bit of work but it is done!
The old bus toilet/restroom/lavatory is out. Now I have a nice big hole in the floor just over the engine.
My photos did not turn out well as my camera could not deal with all the light streaming in thru the hole. Sorry about that.
The plan WAS to construct an aluminum panel to seal the area, insulate it VERY well (both noise and heat) and then use this space for a big closet. However; as plans go… I do not have access to a metal break or shear (where are you Rick?!?!?!) so this effort would likely result in failure. Instead, I am, grudgingly, going to re-used the sheet metal that I just pulled out with the toilet. The holes will be patched, all the old foam and gook cleaned out, and it will be riveted back into place. After that, it will be well sealed, insulated (sound and temperature) and then that closet will cover it. It will result in some wasted space, in the engine compartment, but it would likely go unused anyway.
The inlet coming off the air intake filter housing previously sucked air out from around the toilet. Definitely a great idea as these chemical toilets had a smell (chemicals) that did not agree with me. This will be unused from this point forward so I will be plugging that inlet.

Thank Jim! Tell me more! What make/model? What big changes do you have planned?

If you are plugging that hole does it mean your bathroom will smell? lol

Wait! Jon………….couldn’t you put the toilet back and get some methane off that which the air cleaner would suck in and increase your fuel mileage to about 1000 MPG? Just a thought…..

Wow Pete!! Excellent idea! I may have to plumb the black tank vent back to the engine air intake!! 🙂
