One of the common breakfast flights for those of us in the Albuquerque area is to Grants, NM. It sits on I-40 about 70 miles west of Albuquerque. The airport manager there (Les) is a super friendly guy and always has a courtesy car available for us to make a run to the Wow Diner…. [Read More]
Magdalena
I dropped into the Magdalena, NM airport (N29) a few weeks ago and took the following video on departure. Magdalena is at 6700′ MSL and is a 6000′ long runway. As you can see from the video, the RV-3 doesn’t need much of it to get airborne. I got a kick out of the dust… [Read More]
Badlands Video
The following is a fun little video that a friend of mine captured. He is flying an RV-4 with the camera mounted on the wing. I am obviously in the lead in the RV-3. This was filmed a few miles west of Los Lunas, NM (E98). As usual, it was a beautiful morning and we… [Read More]
Battleship
Fun Movie! You have to chuckle at the similarities to the game (Battleship) – pay CLOSE attention!! I really enjoyed this flick. It is definitely a feel good type of show. Very enjoyable – lots of action – lots of good characters! The U.S. Navy was clearly very involved which makes for some GREAT scenes.
Memorial Day
THANK YOU to our service men and women! I am very, very appreciative to all that have served the great United States. The sacrifices that you have made are great – please know it is not unseen or unknown. I know that being away from your families, the emotional stress, the financial stress, the worry,… [Read More]
Dark Shadows
I hit the movies the other day and gave Dark Shadows a shot. It seems that it was getting some poor reviews but a friend of mine said it was pretty good. It is fairly typical of the Tim Burton – Johnny Depp movies in terms of being kinda strange. However; I really enjoyed it. … [Read More]
Paint
I mentioned here that I painted my kitchen. It still looks great but we’re making big progress now. My Mom has come to visit and we are working like dogs on the rest of my place. Ok, SHE is working like a dog! 🙂 After a trip to Lowes for paint, Raks for tape, Home Depot… [Read More]
Export DataTable to Excel
How does one export the contents of a datatable to an Excel spreadsheet? There is a bunch of sample VB.Net code on the net that deals with this – the exporting the contents of a System.Data.DataTable to a comma-delimited file (CSV or more commonly referred to as Excel) via an ASP.Net website. It’s pretty straight-forward… [Read More]
Hot Magneto
I performed some general maintenance on the RV-3 this weekend. Yes, I know – this engine is not pretty (Lycoming O-320). However; it runs great! 🙂 One of these weekends some parts are going to get pulled, thrown into the bead-blaster, and then into the paint booth. I’ve been into quite a few dirt strips lately… [Read More]
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2
After my last experience with a tablet computer, I knew I wanted one. It just had to be better than my first cheap attempt. As a software developer, it was really important that I get some hands on experience with these units. That said, I sure didn’t have $500 to spend. So, I was really… [Read More]
