Jack, the hammer, and Me

February 20, 2019

Last weekend, I rented a jack hammer for some real fun.

I had a couple different projects for it but the largest was the removal of the pad that the wood burning stove sat on.

I had previously taken a couple whacks at this thing with a sledge hammer and it was not moving.

It appeared to be made of brick, lots of mortar, and covered with tile.

Yes Rick, this is your fault! I bit on the encouragement you gave me!  I must admit though, you were right! The jack hammer made pretty quick work of it. 🙂

That jack hammer is a good workout! It is fairly heavy so just keeping it standing is some work. Lifting it and keeping it moving around is even more.

Being fairly old and at least marginally wiser than I was twenty years ago, I decided to NOT immediately begin hauling out the fairly heavy brick, mortar, and concrete rumble. Instead, I stared at it for a few days hoping it would disappear by itself.

Believe it or not – IT DID!!!

Sort of….

My son Brandon came to town to visit and I took his girlfriend for an airplane ride. When we returned, Brandon had been hard at work hauling the rumble out to the trash container!!

THANK YOU BRANDON!!!

You got to go flight seeing and it really paid off. Great job you did. You certainly have more energy and motivation than me. I fixed a leaky water hose and felt like I was done for the year.
