Engine or No

There seem to be certain topics within every subject that are impossible for people to discuss rationally. Engines and sailboats is a perfect example. Auto engines and airplanes… Wavy potato chips or smooth… Country music or rock and roll…

I don’t enjoy confrontation or debate so I’ve learned to avoid these topics altogether. Too bad, most of these are rather interesting when everyone keeps their emotions under control and actually makes an attempt to understand the other side.

No matter, I suppose…. I enjoy having an engine on my boat for many reasons.  Dare I even say that I think it is “necessary” for me, my skills, and the type of sailing that I do.
