The drawer section in the center of my Newmar Dutch Star dash makes creaking noises.
Creaking noises bug me.
I finally had enough, got down on the floor, and disassembled that section of the dash to see what could be done.
It appeared that the creaking was coming from where the plastic molded pieces of the dash met and rubbed together. While the parts were screwed together and really don’t move much, they still moved just enough to make noise.
I tried a couple different tapes (electrical and masking) and decided on duct tape as it seemed to stop the creaking noise the best. I applied a narrow strip along all of the edges of the piece causing the most noise. This was done so the tape would not be visible when assembled.
Of course, I am a clean freak so I had to clean up under the dash while I had access!
After putting it all back together – no creaking noises!! Well, at least from the area of the dash. I have one more spot to address where two sections of the dash come together near the backup camera monitor but it makes much less noise so not near the annoyance.
Time: 45 minutes.
