Open Space!

January 30, 2019

I just had to share some recent house remodel photos as there seems to be some real deconstruction progress!! The wide open space is beginning to show.

I had a roll off container delivered late last week. This meant that all the debris that has been accumulating could be moved out of the house. YAY!

When I ordered the container, I also ordered a fairly expensive magic wand that was supposed to automatically transport all the debris into the container. However; the one I received seems to be inoperative or the battery is dead, or something. Not YAY!

The outfit I purchased it from was closed for the weekend so I just did it the old fashioned way. My chiropractor appreciates this as it creates lots of continuing business for him…

Getting it all moved was a wee bit of work but it was worth it. The result is a wonderful sight! At least to me!

There is still plenty of deconstruction to be done.

Some goofiness in the kitchen is being blown out. A forty-five degree angled corner as well as the “box” that was above the cabinets. Amazingly, the stove vent blew back into this space. The space was vented to the outside as well as into all the insulated space in the wall and ceiling. Nice! Out it came.

The master bedroom closet is getting blown out to make way for a larger one.

I had planned to remove the wood stove. Not that I don’t like the idea of a wood stove – it just takes so much space – all the time – even when not being used. So, it was coming out.

Then I took a couple whacks at the tile on the floor under the stove – with a sledge hammer.

Ugh… it seems like this is an elevated pad made of concrete. Yuck – what a bunch of work it would be to remove.

So, it seems the wood stove is staying.  Or at least some wood stove.  I’m not a huge fan of the one that is there now.

I don’t know what type of brick was used on the wall around the stove but they were ugly. So, out they came.

The floor tile at what used to be the front entrance are also now gone.

I’ll send you the one I purchased. I can’t get it to work but maybe you’ll have better luck. 🙂

That is a lot of deconstruction! I bet this project will be easier than the bus! Good work so far!

Is it ignorance or apathy? Hey, I don’t know and I don’t care.
