With my work in Minneapolis complete, it was time to head south to Missouri.
Our next destination was near St Clair, MO where some more family lives.
The drive south was fairly warm and by mid-afternoon I was feeling sleepy. I had already stopped for a couple of cat-naps so it was time to call it a day. My handy-dandy phone app found a nice looking RV park in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. I called and they had a spot just for me.
Crossroads RV Park was the place. Very nice folks and easy to access pull thru spots. The park is very close to the highway but I didn’t notice much of any noise from it.
I spent the night, had a relaxing morning and hit the road again.
The final bit of the drive was uneventful but that bridge over the Mississippi river at Washington, MO sure is NARROW! They are constructing a new bridge so that’ll be nice.
I ended up in the parking lot of the church where my brother in law is the minister.
Missy is scheduled for some service/maintenance this week at a nearby coach/tour bus company so there was no need to get setup in more permanent parking. Lucky for me, family here has a spare bed that the bus boys and I can use while the work is being done.

I have a friend that works at the bus shop so I feel like she will be taken care of. This is the same place that gave her a good going over and changed all the fluids when I purchased her.
The work being done is mostly typical service stuff but I also have a rear air leak and I’m REALLY hoping they can figure out what is causing the vibration at highway speed – that is driving me nuts!!
Typically, I would enjoy crawling around underneath and figuring out/fixing the air problem myself. However; without a pit, working under Missy is a challenge and a half. Not sure if it is my big head or big stomach that makes it so difficult! In any case, messing with the air suspension system that is holding the 42,000 lbs over your head is a wee bit disconcerting. So, I’ll let someone better equipped deal with it.
That tummy can’t be too big since the RV-8 fits around you. I agree let pros work the big jobs. My Doc says for me to keep taking training in ACRO birds and Warbirds and if I ever want the expense of owning again, buy a Carbon Cub or build a OneX. Sport pilot is all I will ever be from now on. I envy your RV-8 and property in a most beautiful part of the country for day flights. Enjoy the rest of your family visits.
Thanks Tom! My friends Carbon Cub is one great machine! A Onex also looks very interesting. When they came out, I thought the folding wing option would be a huge selling point but I’ve not seen that materialize.
just so you know, when I was greasing JBAM, I could not fit under the rear part to do the drive shaft. I didn’t think I was that big but apparently, I am mistaken. The guys at Spartan did it for me.
That spot you are parked in at the church looks very familiar.
