Happy 2022!!
Hard to believe another year has come and gone.
In my typical style, I wanted to get the new year started by committing aviation. I failed this year but it was due to high wind and bad weather. So, as soon as the second day of the year arrived – with good weather – I was up in the air.
Here is the result – short and sweet but so much fun!! You’ll find some quick glimpses of both elk and buffalo – if you watch carefully!

I am glad you hit pause in the final video or I would have missed the wildliffe! 😉
You are quite the stunt man!! Are with someone else who is video taping you?
Be careful! ~your sis

HA! Glad you got to see the wildlife this time!
Stunts?!?! Those are carefully executed aerobatic maneuvers with many years of practice. Nothing daring or dangerous going on here – I’m the epitome of safety!
All of that video was captured using cameras mounted to my airplane. I have recently published a YouTube video showing them on the ground. It is here: https://youtu.be/8OEosxVJsG0

Fantastic video!! I have to know, what cameras, filters or post-processing are you using – I don’t see any detectable “jello effect”. Normally my flight video is terrible because of the rolling shutter effects.
JD says
Thanks Tim! See this video (https://youtu.be/8OEosxVJsG0) for some details on the equipment. Since I upgraded to GoPro Hero 6 and Max 360 cameras, I haven’t had any jello issues (that I recall). I definitely experienced that with my old equipment (Drift HD and Hero 4). As I recall, it was related to the prop and was worse at reduced power settings (maybe 1800rpm??). With the Hero 6’s, I record at 2.7k, 30fps, and ‘superview’ – that may be a factor.

Jon,
You missed pointing out the turkey (the one flying the plane… ha!)
Good to see that you’re back at ‘er pal and happy new year!
JD says
HA!! Yes, I guess that’s true. I tend to think of the guy in the cockpit as more of a magnificent bull… but have to admit, a turkey is probably more accurate. 😋😉
