18 Miles

August 7, 2012

I’ve been stretching the length of the my daily bike ride.  Today, I hit 18.2 miles!!

18 Miles!!

I am super stoked!  A few weeks ago, I could not have imagined such a thing.

The thing that continues to surprise me is that I am not tired at the end of this distance. Rather, my arms/wrists and behind are the things that are worn out and/or starting to get sore and/or numb. That said, I certainly expect some leg soreness to set it in a day or so.  I spent 75 minutes on the bicycle today so averaged about just a hair over 14 mph.  So, I’m not dogging it. However; I do realize that this isn’t exactly world record pace either.  I guess the important thing is to keep increasing the distance and intensity while getting my body used to it.  I suppose I should note that my riding area is mostly flat – along a river bottom (Rio Grande).  There are some very gentle rises and falls but not enough to even mention.
