Workshop

April 20, 2012

My garage/workshop has been an absolute mess for far too long.  A couple years ago when my life got flipped upside down, I stopped caring about it and I stopped doing anything in it except piling more stuff.  I have been trying to fix that (and many other things) over the last few weeks.

I bought a couple of shelves at Lowes that are 48″ deep, 48″ wide, and 72″ tall – five shelves.  They are item number 101933.  Overall, I can’t complain. They seem to be pretty strong.  However; for $80 each I had hoped for more. They go together without tools but do not feel as solid/stable as I would like.  Nonetheless; they will work – it’s not like there are kids climbing on them.

Harbor Freight had an 11 drawer toolbox on sale – item number 67421. I got one of those as well.

I’ve been slowly sorting thru the mess and trying to organize, arrange, toss, and put away for seems like a very a long time. I am quite happy to report that my workbench is COMPLETELY cleaned off, I have consolidated a bunch of boxes, and I have tossed a lot of trash and empty boxes.  It feels great.  Yes, there are plenty more boxes to go thru – the job is not done but I am excited by the progress!!

Clean Workbench

Not sure that I have mentioned it but I sold my TV months ago – that was a smart move. It is far too easy to spend time zoning out in front of that thing. Instead; I have been slowing making progress on a whole bunch of things, like the garage. I feel like I am slowly getting my house and my life put back in order – or at least some semblance of order. I now fully understand how quickly things can change and that I am not actually in control of anything. So, I am very thankful for many blessings that I do have and I try to spend a little time appreciating them, and the small things, every day.
