Thank You Vets!

July 4, 2011

I love the United States and the principals on which it was founded. Therefore; I love Independence Day.  Our service men and women hold a VERY special place in my heart and I thank each and every one of you from the deepest reaches of my heart (my son included – 101st Airborne/Air Assault – GO SCREAMING EAGLES!!).  I know many of you sacrifice a great deal for my freedom.  Saying thank you feels so “small” and meaningless but please know that I do not say it lightly – THANK YOU!

As I enjoyed this years celebration, my attention was drawn to our injured Veterans. Believe me, I am fully aware that the sacrifices of our Vets are wide and varied and I do not intend to minimize the emotional scars, financial/relational sacrifices and/or huge investements of time that are made.  Sadly, I am guilty of failing to regularly appreciate that some of our Vet’s have injuries that will effect them their whole lives.  Please remember our boys and support them.  I know of the following groups but I bet there are plenty of others.  Come on – invest some time or money back into our borthers that have sacrificed for you and me.
