Nice, just wondering… Are you going to build a shore power station? A 50 amp or more stationary diesel on a small concrete pad with concrete walls and a roof. Place it away from the bus and never hear it. Then if you get a hanger built, it could power it also. They seem to be available at auctions. Just an idea.

Hi Tom, I had not considered that – thanks! Electrical service is fairly close (1/2 mile?) and I’ve thought that if I ever got to the point of really “needing” power, I would check with them to see what it would cost to extend it onto the property. I know it will not be cheap. I’ve just purchased a small gas generator to carry with me on an upcoming trip back east. This is not the long term plan (a small diesel generator in Missy is in the plan) but I wanted to have something available to run A/C if I get stuck somewhere hot and without shore power. As far as not hearing it… this is a topic that varies widely from person to person. Sadly, I seem to be VERY sensitive to noise and vibrations. I can hear a generator running a mile a way – or a dog barking a mile away. Part of the problem is that I spend a great deal of time where there is absolutely no man made noise. This means that when it does exist – it is like a cannon shot to me. I am very spoiled by solar. In fact, if I get to the point of wanting more power for the property, I would very seriously consider adding more solar – ground based (instead of Missy). Lots of options!
