Complaint Complain ComplainingI don’t know about you guys but complaining comes very easy for me.  I caught onto this years ago and have spent a LOT of effort over the years trying to keep it in check – it is not easy.  Because of this, I find it very hard to listen to others complain.  We are incredibly blessed in this country (United States) and it seems that everything we complain about is just plain silly.

For example: Have you wondered how some of the following might sound to a homeless and/or starving (due to all the warfare) person in Uganda?

  • “I had to wait in line for 5 minutes to buy my $150 worth of groceries today.”
  • “I had to sit in my air conditioned car for twenty minutes after leaving my well paying job on the way to my home in the suburbs.”
  • “The power company took four hours to get electricity turned back on and my air-conditioning, refrigerator, freezer, computer, and television were off the entire time.”

And on and on it goes…

I do understand that we get accustomed to these LUXURIES and really miss them when they are not there.  However; for me at least, this type of talk does SERIOUSLY negative things to my head.  In the last year or so, I’ve started noticing how just a little bit of negative seems to have an over-powering affect on the whole day.  Perhaps this is just due to my current, environment which is predominantly negative  – I don’t know. In any case, I try really hard to be aware of what is coming out of my own mouth and avoid anyone that is talking negatively.

So, I am encouraging all of you to become aware of what you a saying.  I challenge you to put a stop to the negative and enjoy the benefits of a more positive outlook.
