Labor Day

September 5, 2011

Another Labor Day….  I sure appreciate the day off. I don’t exactly celebrate the origin of this holiday but who am I to complain.  The start of the NFL and NCAA football seasons is a good thing if for no other reason than to stare at the TV.  I always hate to see summer come to a close but fall is a wonderous and beautiful time of year.

“When the goldenrod is yellow,
And leaves are turning brown –
Reluctantly the summer goes
In a cloud of thistledown.

When squirrels are harvesting
And birds in flight appear –
By these autumn signs we know
September days are here.”

It’s a real burden, being right so often.
