Not surprising I guess, the contract on my home has fallen apart.
I feel very cheated.
My realtor was also the buyers realtor (sign #1). After waiting for two months, the buyers lender (underwriter) wanted a second appraisal but the buyer did not want to pay for it. Instead, the buyer wanted to amend the offer and reduce the price by $40k. My realtor advised me to take it and get a short sale agreement (sign #2). I asked just how she thought the bank would view my trying to sell it for $40k less than appraised value AND asking them (the bank) to take the loss ($40k). No response (sign #3). Now that the deal has fallen thru, I find out that the realtor did not even list the property on the MLS (sign #4). In hindsight, I see all sorts of signs that this was a very incestuous and it appears that I was being setup. I was originally ok with a short sale if necessary and if my lenders agreed. However; all of that changed when the first appraisal came in at asking price.
Now it appears that the realtor and buyer had planned all along for this to be a short sale and the first appraisal coming in so high ruined their plans. In the mean time, I have wasted another two months of my life waiting. There were plenty of signs for me, I’m just not very bright.
At one point, whilst laying on the living room floor beating my head on the tile, I was struck that perhaps the lesson that I am being taught is to stop waiting and to take control of my life.
Novel idea. I just have to figure out what that means…
