Delays

March 17, 2012

I’ve figured it out!!  I do not like delays.  Another situation has arisen that is similar to my complaining here.

A package was sent to me in New Mexico from Seattle, WA via USPS (United States Postal Service). They day it was to arrive here (a Saturday), it didn’t.  I waited, nothing on Monday. I waited again, nothing on Tuesday.  Now I started to wonder so I asked for the tracking number from the shipper.  Guess what?  The package arrived here on Saturday and the carrier forwarded it to Florida.  WHAT?!?!

Frustration Pulling Hair Out Going CrazyI had a temporary mail forward order in effect in January and the first half of February for my mail to be forwarded while I was on my boat.  Why, after canceling this order in the middle of February and receiving my mail normally for a month, would they pick THIS package to send on a world tour??  The explanation that I’ve been given is that Saturday was the normal mail carriers day off and a “substitute” carrier must have seen the now canceled forward order.  Great – wonderful system ya got there.

Even more interesting: for nearly a week the package has been lost.  USPS could not tell me where it was nor where it was heading. Today, it finally showed up in Texas.  Amazing – two days from Seattle to New Mexico and a week to hop across the border into Texas.  It was probably sitting in a truck in the back of the parking lot – at least that would explain why there were no scans of the package.

Sorry, folks. This is another excellent example of why the government should NOT be in business.  They can do very little right and never do it efficiently nor cost effectively.  The flat rate box deal is a good thing but this has ruined it for me.  You can bet I will be using UPS and FedEx as much as possible from now on.

Oh, to add insult to injury – I ordered another item from Mississippi two days ago.  It arrived in today’s mail.
