da Bachelor Pad

It’s not the most creative name but it is fitting… da Bachelor Pad.

Indoor photos really challenge me, I used a wide angle lens to get as much of the room as possible but they look a little fish-bowl-ish.

The photos don’t really do justice to how bad the place is. I’m scared to go into the bathrooms and I clean the bottoms of my shoes off after walking on the carpet.  It really needs some work. Some argue that is it livable – I admit that it is… just barely and only after a whole bunch of cleaning.

All of the items in the house, and quite a lot of what is in the hangar, were left by the previous owner. Some of which is going to be retrieved by them in the next couple weeks.

The front.  Ya… brick and yellowish stucco… hmmm…

The most important part, the hangar.

Coming from the hangar and thru the mud room, the kitchen and dining area.

Looking the opposite direction from the dining area to the kitchen.  The hall near the middle is to the front door and you can just peak into the living room.  In my opinion, some walls need to go. Specifically the wall between the living room and front entry and the wall between the living room and the kitchen (the wall with the green tape on it below). That would open the entire area up into a really great open space.  Since the wall with the green tape is weight bearing, I put the tape on to help imagine what it would be like mostly out but a couple columns remaining.  I think that works (particularly given the cost of a 30′ beam and installation).

Looking towards the front door.

Different view of the same thing.

The living room. The front door is on the other side of the wall straight ahead and the kitchen on the other side of the wall that is to the right.

Living room again.

Master bedroom.  It is good sized. The tiny little door to the left is to the master bath.

The master bath.  All wrong for a master.

Another bedroom.

And another bedroom.

Bathroom.

I’ve spent some time sitting in various rooms and thinking about a design.  Not sure what I want yet.  Probably something with a bit of a rustic/southwest flair.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? …Love. You can learn all the math in the ‘verse, but you take a boat to the sea you don’t love, she’ll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she’s hurting ‘fore she keens. Makes her a home.
