Bendit with Snow

January 7, 2019

I needed to make a trip to Bendit to retrieve my little utility trailer and a front tractor tire that was flat. Lots of snow and cold – at least for the high desert – has come thru recently so I figured that odds were good that I’d find some snow.

… and I sure did!

Lots of snow!!

A good friend and I headed out early on Saturday morning hoping to get in and out before temperatures warmed enough for things to get wet and soft. No problem there!! I surprised at how much I found and the temperature was just slightly above zero!

The snow was a very nice touch on all of the scenery.

The La Ventana Natural Arch is always a pretty sight and the snow just added to it!

My Jeep Wrangler is mighty impressive off-road and she proved every bit as good in the snow. I don’t even have particularly great tires.

If I had ski’s for airplane, I’d say that the airstrip would be in perfect condition to put them to work!

The tractor tire popped right off. Having removed it once before helped a great deal as I had the correct tools (link). I had also left the front-end off the ground after I last used it to facilitate this task. Occasionally, things do go smoothly! Of course, a little pre-planning always helps.

A fog bank was sitting in the El Malpais lava flow area and had left everything with a very nice frosting!

The trip was entirely successful, without drama, and I sure appreciated that company as it is not a short drive!!

Wow! Jon! That is really pretty up there! I am a bit surprised at just how cold it gets though. Good to know!
