Quickie Aircraft Documents

The Quickie, Q2, Q200 aircraft documents that I have are below.

Quickie Aircraft Documents Q2 Q200 Rutan QAC Some of the following documents are multi-page TIFF images. Each page is the full 11×17 size. You can view the images on your computer and/or print all or individual pages. The photos aren’t the best quality but are better than nothing.

If using Windows 2000/TIFF, the images are viewable using the “Imaging for Windows” tool (Start – Programs – Accessories – Imaging). To view pages you must use the Imaging toolbar (next/previous page buttons) OR use the Page – Next/Previous menu options. If you are using some other OS, I can’t help you determine what software to use to view the files.

This is everything that I have. Asking me for something additional won’t help. However; if you have something that I don’t, please send it to me and I’ll post it.

Hello there mate. Great job posting these here. Where would I find All Sheets Appendix Q2 for the templates since Quickie are no longer in business and the South Africans who reportedly got the IP dropped off the radar? I’d really want to start on my build now that I’m heading for retirement. Kind regards

Thanks for hosting these matey, great site.
Question, I have seen Q2/200s with the landing gear moved in board, presumably to counter the gyroscopic effect of one wheel in the dirt and ground looping. Is there any mod paperwork for this mod or is it a case of document as you go to keep the feds happy? If there is a documented mod for it could you please point me in the right direction for it? I am seriously looking at a Q2 and given the horror stories about ground handling, i am thinking of incorporating the mod while I am doing the strip down overhaul.
Thanks for your advice in advance
    Regards
    Paul

To the best of my knowledge, the instructions for the Tri-Gear came with the purchase of that sub-kit. The “horror stories about ground handling” are no longer valid. The solution was discovered years ago. It is to properly align the main gear (not as per-plans) – see the Gall Wheel Alignment document. Once that is done, the Q2 is very stable and predictable on the ground. The tri-gear setup is not a panacea.

        Thanks Matey,
Where do I find the Gall Wheel alignment document sorry if this is a dumb question.
Thanks for the advice on the tri Q I prefer to leave the Q2 in its current configuration if I can. I may upgrade the engine to a Rotax 912S or O-200 later.

Thanks for the feedback. I found a PDF of the Gall Wheel Alignment document. I don’t seem to be able to post it. What email address did you want me to send it to?
Here is the link and I downloaded to PDF.

Sleur – I had similar thoughts. However, I was talking with a few builders, and one (a mechanical engineer) advised me that due to Reynolds Number considerations ( ration between different forces operating on flowing liquids) the process of scaling down plans is not as trivial as it might seem.
Have you made any inquiries into this? How far along is your project?
      ( see a basic description here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reynolds_number#Flow_around_airfoils )

Hi John, I have the Q2 124AT at Gnoss Field. I met a fellow down at Mojave who is going to do a first flight in a new Q2 and he asked me if he could get a ride first. Unfortunately my plane is down for service (valve job or new big valve heads) so I’m looking for someone else that might want to do it. Do you know someone?

Just found this site by googling quickie. The plans, molds and two planes are being sold by a man in Sandersville, Ga. All for $50,000.

We (May wife and I are also in the process of selling everything and going full time in an rv. Who knew I would find Quickie and RV (not airplane) in the same place.

I read you article on purchasing an rv and plan to get implement your suggestions. Any other info would be greatly appreciated!

Right now we are focused on selling STUFF. Suggestions on that is also welcomed.

      JD,

Do you have any sets of the Coughlin brake mounts left over by chance? Buying them would save me some time and I figured this is a better way to get a hold of you directly rather than spamming the entire Q-List.

      Thanks!

If someone out there has templates and would like to scan them, that would be lovely. I’m repairing a broken wheel on a Q200, and I’d like to just rebuild it entirely. I’ve noticed that other Q-birds have incurred this type of injury, so it’s not uncommon.

Curious as to the structural limitations for the Q2….Ive got a O-235 that Id love to put on the front. Anyone ever pushed the envelope as far as speed and performance?

Hi Truxton, it has been done. However; it is all about weight. The O-235 is heavy. The O-200 works wonderfully and makes for a light and well performing airplane.

Thank you for the Quickie (original) stuff. Looking to modify one, replacing canard config, for the inverted gull wing of “September Fate” Pylon Racer, nose and a modified tail from the Rutan #68 Amsoil Racer. May go further and use the biplane config. of Sorceress.
