The far east trip is going swimmingly!
Missy and I made the drive from eastern Missouri to a friend’s place near Imperial, NE late last week. Missy ran just fine and I hung out for a couple of days visiting. Of course, I completely forgot to take photos… again.
We then traveled to Falcon, CO which is on the northeast outskirts of Colorado Springs. This time to visit one of my son’s.
Yes sir… that is Pike’s Peak in the background.
Once again, Missy ran just fine.
Come to think of it, I did have one minor issue coming across Kansas. The rain was coming down pretty hard and the passenger side windshield wiper decided to act goofy. This is familiar territory as it happened on my last motorhome as well – but in South Dakota. That led to the whole tapered knurl story.
This time, before even stepping out in the rain, I grabbed a crescent wrench as I had a pretty good idea what needed done – at least I was hoping I did!!
Sure enough, one of the nuts holding the wiper arm to the “post” had loosened. Simply re-aligning the wiper arm and tightening the bolt solved the problem.
I sure do love simple fixes!!
Given the number of miles I’ve traveled, that is a mighty short and easy list of problems to report!

A nice thing about a bus, not broken in until a million miles. They were built like a ship to last and make money. Been enjoying your travels but wonder what line of work took you overseas.

Indeed! I’m ready for mine to start making me some money!!! 🙂
We produce a few different commercial airport management tools/systems. The trip was for some detail implementation planning.

JD, I’m curious what your internet setup is like these days. I’m a programmer with a steady remote gig, ready to take off but still a little concerned about ending up with no access during the work week. You never seem to have any trouble though — what are you using right now?

Hello Muddy!
I now have a Verizon Jetpack (mifi) and my smartphone. The Jetpack has an unlimited data plan (really 25GB), the phone has 4GB.
Very near the beaten path, the Jetpack works just fine, all by itself.
Occasionally, I’m at a location where the signal is ok but not great so I use my Wilson Sleek amplifier.
When signal is nearly non-existent, I use my weBoost Connect 4G-X Booster. I put the external antenna on a 20′ pole and it works very well. It sometimes surprises me that it can get any signal at all. On my property (where I’m building the airstrip), the nearest cell tower is 26 miles away (as the crow flies). Twenty feet in the air, the booster is just barely able to pick up enough signal for 4G – but it does!! I think another 20′ would be even better – but haven’t gotten around to that yet.
Here is an old/dated post about this very subject.

JD — thanks for the reply. Seems like the WeBoost are the way to go. I’m going to try and remember this if I end up buying one so I can use your amazon link.
