When you are at a campground like this, do you plug into their electrical or do you just use your solar Power?
If your panels generate a lot of electricity, can you sell some back to the campground or to Tom and Ronda?
Hi Roger! Good questions and the ‘selling back’ is one that is often discussed on the RV forums. Sadly, the power companies have pretty tight controls on pushing power back into the grid and it basically boils to permanently installed equipment that they have fully inspected and approved. So, no ability to sell back from an RV. Whether or not I hook up the electric cord depends on weather and my power needs. Without air conditioning in Missy, there is really no need to hook up unless there is no sun. If and when I get around to adding air conditioning, I will certainly use campground power to run it. It is supposed to be nearly 100 degrees this weekend so I fully expect to be wishing I had it installed!! 🙂
I forgot about hot water! Currently, Missy is wired to only power the electric hot water heater from shore or generator power. Since I do not have have a shower, yet, I’ve been using the campground shower. So, hot water has not been a big deal. However; once I have a shower, what I said above will probably change. I’ll likely hook up just to have hot water.
