Tool Love – Snake

September 5, 2016

You know how guys are – tools a sweet!

The list of tools that I’d really like to have is about fourteen pages long!  This past week, I had the opportunity to cross one more off the list.

This one is a very simple tool but one that is worth every penny when needed. An electrical wire snake or fish tape.  I’m not typically a snake fan but this one is great fun!

Ok, THAT is NOT the type of snake that I am talking about!!!!

This is the tool electricians use to “fish” or “snake” wire thru walls. I’m not sure why we chose to use animal names for that activity though….  It is basically just a relatively “firm” (limited flexibility) steel “wire”.  It is stiff enough that you can push it from one point, to the next without it heading off in the wrong direction or getting hung up on every little thing.  Like I said, pretty simple!

I purchased a Klein Tools 25′ Steel Fish Tape with 1/4″ width.

I used it to fish the battery temperature sensor wire from my RV battery bank to the solar charge controller and it worked wonderfully.  Some that I have used make a bit of a mess of the fish wire and can be a little hard to “wind up”.  Not so this one.

I highly recommend it.
