I have some amazing friends!! I don’t talk about them enough but I am VERY blessed!
Three of those friends brought their RV’s up to the Hacienda recently for a weekend visit. Apparently, this was to celebrate some important event – I’m not sure what that was all about. I’ll call them “Dave”, “Ann”, and “Cathy” – to protect their actual identities.
It is important to note that the Hacienda is still a work in progress. Everything is covered in loose dirt/dust due to all of the digging I’ve been doing, the road is far from ideal for RV’s, there are zero services out here – such as power or water, and I am pretty far from the nearest paved road. So, bringing ones nice RV in requires more cahoonas that just pulling into an established RV campground.
As part of this little event, Dave brought me a windsock!!
This was not JUST a windsock!! He included EVERYTHING – the very nice ball-bearing basket to which it is mounted, the steel pole to which that is mounted, the lumber to which the pole is secured, the concrete with which the lumber is permanently and solidly buried in the ground, bolts and nuts, and even the water to mix the concrete!! WOW!!! He had done some serious work to put this thing together!!
He even helped with the digging!!
It looks FANTASTIC and works every bit as well!!
Here we are staring in awe at it’s magnificence…
I also got one of Ann’s fabulous dinners AND a cake with a whole bunch of candles on it!!
THANK YOU – THANK YOU – THANK YOU!!!!
A couple days later, two more friends (Mike and John) flew in to test the windsock and check on airstrip progress. They brought breakfast and COOKIES!!!
They managed to land and take-off in the correct direction based on the wind so I have to say that the windsock worked perfectly and passed the test with flying colors.
Whilst all this silliness was going on, Cathy was getting photos of the bus boys in the wild!
It was sure great to have the company of some great friends for a few days!
