I was notified this week that I am in fifth place on a Strava segment that I did not even know existed!!
The segment is the Camino Del Llano Climb which rises up out of the metropolis of Belen, NM onto the mesa west of town where the Belen airport is located. It is 1.3 miles and an average grade of 4.6% for a total climb of 316 feet.
Strava – I’m stoked!!
I took a slightly path a week or two ago which put me on this segment that, obviously, I smoked! Normally, I take a path which joins in the middle of the segment. Had I known the segment was there, I would have changed my route.
In any case, I am world class running in fifth place!! I don’t have the premium Strava subscription so cannot see my rating by age and/or weight – bummer. I’ll bet I’m competing with skinny guys that are young enough to be my children. 🙂
In the interest of full disclosure, I should probably note that there are only five people that have rides recorded on this segment. The good news though, is that I am only out of fourth place by four and half minutes and out of first place by roughly one order of magnitude!!
