Columbus Day

Yay for Columbus!  I’m not too interested in the debate about Christopher Columbus. When I consider the sailing that he and his crews did, I am amazed.  Can you imagine setting off across the atlantic and venturing into areas without ANY charts or knowledge of what was out there??  I can barely navigate thru thin water with a GPS, chart, and shoal draft boat.  Imagine doing it with a tall ship and the tools of the day!

Obviously Columbus was not the only sailor with skills in the days of old. I celebrate all of them. They were truly amazing people!
