I learned a powerful lesson yesterday.
I’ve read a lot of blogs and heard a lot of cyclists talk about always carrying some tools and spare equipment. This is particularly true for tire punctures (patch kit, spare inner tube, etc…). Of course, the experience of others is always of value to me so I’ve thought about it quite a bit.
Yesterday I was at mile 11 of a planned 15 miles. That’s when that really ugly ppssssttttt sound started. It didn’t last very long – my rear tire was flat as flat as a pancake before I could get stopped.
Bummer!
The idea of having a tool kit suddenly became a much higher priority. Too bad it was too little too late. 🙂
I was able to take some short cuts and only had to walk 2.5 miles to get home. Let me tell you, my feet and ankles were SORE. My “cycling shoes” are not true cycling shoes and now I can tell you that they are most certainly not good walking shoes.
Hmm… maybe a set of walking shoes is a good addition to my repair kit. Oh wait, that reminds me – I need to put together a repair kit before my next ride…
