A Tiny Little Bump

September 10, 2018

I’ve installed three of these touch panel dimming light switches in Missy.

They support both 12VDC and 24VDC powered lights which is helpful as my permanent lights (mentioned here) are 24VDC but the temporary lights in the bedroom are 12VDC.

They are touch switches.

I like everything about them…

Except…

There is no tactile information provided by the switch.

When it is pitch black, touching just the right part of the switch to turn the lights on proved very difficult – even when you know exactly where to touch.

At least it difficult for me…

What to do…

What I really needed was a little bump right where the on/off button is. So, I started doing some research. My first thought was a little spot of glue or something.

However; Amazon, in typical fashion, had exactly what I needed.

I ordered a set, cleaned the switches, and stuck them on.

Perfect!!  You can almost see the little bump in these photos right over the power icon.

It is now super easy to find just the right spot when feeling around in the dark. Just feel for the little bump.

No more wondering around in the dark!!

Sometimes a tiny little bump can make a really big difference!

Given DM’s comment below, I thought all of this might make more sense if I added a photo of the kitchen lights that this particular dimmable switch is driving.

i made some night lights from 10ft of LED strips.

Howdy DM. I added a photo of the kitchen lights that this switch is driving to add more context to the whole discussion.

That place is looking pretty spiffy! Nice work, as always!
