I’m officially disgusted with professional cycling.
Yep, took me a while.
They’ve been whining about various things for years. Wearing helmets, taking drugs, making too little money, making too much money, making bicycles too light, cheating with technology… all just silly.
I could live with all that stuff. Show me a sport where the top echelon is not cheating. Really… be serious.
Show me a sport where they aren’t trying to remove all possible risk. I too would like to be paid $30 million dollars a year to prance around with a ball in hand and nobody is allowed to touch me.
However; the 2020 Tour de France has finally pushed me over the edge.
They took away the gorgeous podium girls.
Yep… THAT is a sickening. I was able to sit there and watch a boring a six hour stage because I knew each of the jersey presentations (on the podium) was going to have two beautiful girls handing the winner some flowers or something. Now… what is there to watch? I can just as easily read the results online.
Tour de France, shame on you. I am seriously unimpressed.
Objectify?? Give me a break. Men are men, women are fantastic, get over it.
Belittle? Stupid. You have any idea how much money those models make? They were certainly not being forced to stand up there under gun point.
Sexist?? Uh… yeah… kinda goes back to the man and woman thing… doesn’t it?? Trying to make everyone the same gender or something??? I can’t help but wonder how many more generations humans will exist with this type of thinking…

This is the first time I have not watched the Tour. I use to tape the races to VCR tape back in the late 1980’s. But after everything that has gone one I have lost interest. I agree with you on all the points you made.

Well as a woman I have a little different take on the award ceremony but if they had taken good looking, tanned, muscled, any age really, men out of the picture then I would agree with you 100%. I watched the big Tour years ago but lost interest as well but probably because I got divorced from someone from France and loyal to bike racing. But your take on professional sports is right on. This may explain why you lost interest in competing in the Tour but I hope you still get out and about around New Mexico. Sans your arm issues.

Yeah… Jon! That TV you gifted me with three years ago has ‘pictured’ very little sports… period! Just give me Gun Smoke… Mayberry… Heat of the Night… and the likes.

Totally agree with you my friend. The dresses were all unique and fun to see what they look like in them.
